Mataranka, 2014

Richard began photography in 2010, after moving to Melbourne from country Victoria in 2009. He found photography to be a great vehicle for the exploration of his new home and a conduit for which he could gain understanding. After he began study at Melbourne Polytechnic (formerly NMIT) he began to expand his photographic styles into other previously untouched realms, such as portraiture and video.

Inspired by photographers such as Ingetje Trados, Steve McCurry and Nick Brandt, Richard aspires to create content for more than domestic purposes. Whether it is in photographing events for journalistic purposes, or documenting live music, Richard aims to create images that can help a viewer gain a deeper understanding or appreciation of the people and places in the images.
